When you hear the word fitness, you picture someone who is physically elite, super toned, and is super healthy. It certainly can be that image. For me, to be fit really means to be physically capable of performing tasks and performing a role…body AND mind. Is my mindset right to achieve fitness goals? Do I have the strength to keep going? Am I….FIT?
10 years ago I would not have believed you if you predicted this is where I would be. Looking at me, you might not consider me the image of fit. I wouldn’t have considered myself fit…but here I am in my 50s, chasing Jaida with ease, and carrying my grandson through Disneyland lines with minimal effort. Now here I am, teaching kickboxing. (pause for a huge happy sigh ?). Yeah, I pull over to the side of the road more times than I like to admit. But I am determined to keep up with my babies…my IMA community…my IMA village.
I can see the challenges the younglings are experiencing during class warm ups or even struggling to pass the fitness portion of belt testing. Not judging…I couldn’t be MORE proud of my IMA Community. I am extremely thankful that they choose us to improve and I whole-heartedly appreciate these moments I GET to share with them – it’s a privilege I don’t take lightly. My wish is that they approach their fitness journey with as much drive as if they just leveled up in a video game. I hope that I inspire others to get up and move…stay fit, maintain flexibility, build strength, and invest in their mobility.
Live your moment
